Editing or Deleting a Procedure (2:01)

Progress notes create a record of patient care and therefore must be completely accurate. If you discover you made a mistake when posting a procedure—say you find that an extraction was recorded for tooth #19 when it should have been tooth #18—you can edit completed, planned, or existing treatment from a patient’s progress notes.

Additional Information

  • Procedures may also be edited from the patient’s Ledger.
  • You can edit or delete procedures in the patient’s Quick Exam at the time of the exam, but after the exam, you’ll need to open the patient’s Progress Notes to edit or delete a procedure.
  • You cannot edit a completed procedure under any of the following circumstances:
    • If the date is greater than the specified number of days ago set in the Ledger Rules
    • If a patient payment or an insurance payment has been posted for it
    • If the procedure is attached to an insurance claim
