This feature allows the administrator to restrict access to Dentrix Ascend based on the IP address of the Internet gateway used to access the practice management software. When this address represents your practice location or corporate headquarters, it means that users to whom the restrictions apply can only use the software when they are on-premises.
Watch this video for an overview of the Location Access Restriction feature. (Duration: 3:24)
Additional Information
- Use of this feature is optional, and is turned off by default. Dentrix Ascend will operate normally until you choose to define and activate restrictions.
- When you implement Location Access Restriction, users without the Bypass right and attempting to log in from an address different from any on the allowed list will be denied access and see a warning message asking them to contact the administrator.
- To use this feature, you’ll need to have an IP address that doesn’t change. You can get a static IP address from your internet service provider. Popular service providers include Comcast, Cox, AT&T, etc. If you’re not sure who your internet service provider is, start by visiting Who is My ISP? online.
