Comprehensive Spanish language translation is now available for Dentrix Ascend Forms (the new patient forms solution). This enhancement allows patient forms to be completed fully in Spanish, so you can better serve your Spanish-speaking patients. Also, it includes a “smart” translation feature that converts standard patient answers back to English for staff convenience, while preserving the patient’s original voice in custom text fields.
Switching between languages
A new language option on the forms allows patients to switch between English and Spanish instantly.



Translation features
- All base form elements and existing templates in the new patient forms solution are translated.
Note: If you opt in to the new forms solution, any Spanish translations of consent forms from the legacy system are not migrated to the new forms solution. However, in the online patient forms portal, the text of any consent form is translated automatically when the patient switches to viewing the Spanish translation. - Any custom elements or fields a practice creates are automatically translated for the patient to read.
- To streamline office workflows, all patient selections from standard fields (such as checkboxes, dropdown lists, and yes/no answers) are translated back to English when written to Dentrix Ascend and the final PDF.
Note: To ensure the patient’s original intent is never lost, any free-text responses typed in Spanish (such as to a question like “What is your primary concern?”) will remain in Spanish on the PDF and in Dentrix Ascend.

Q: Some of the patient’s answers came back in English, but some are in Spanish. Is the form broken?
A: No, the system is working as designed to make things easier for your office. It automatically translates all standard selections—like from dropdowns or checkboxes—back to English for your convenience. However, to preserve the patient’s exact words on personal topics, any answers typed into custom text boxes are kept in the original Spanish. This ensures nothing is “lost in translation” for their most important concerns.
Q: I have a custom question on my form. Will it be translated?
A: Yes. All custom fields you create are automatically translated for the patient to read.
Q: What if a translation seems incorrect or awkward?
A: You can report any translation that could be improved, and our product team will review it.
Q: What about other languages?
A: Spanish is our first step in a broader commitment to multilingual support. We’re excited to make our platform even more accessible in the future.
