Changing Coverage Period if Claims Exists

You can now change an insurance plan’s coverage dates even if doing so causes existing claims to fall outside the new date range. This allows you to add or end insurance (during intake, carrier change, or coordination order update) without first having to delete or resolve every related claim.

Previously, you could not change a plan’s coverage start or end date if doing so would cause existing claims to fall outside the new date range.

Now, if you change coverage periods for plans (by changing coverage dates, ending coverages, or changing the coordination order), and any claims fall outside the new coverage period, a warning appears and lists the affected claims.

The warning also lists affected predeterminations but only if you have changed coverage periods for plans by changing the coordination order.

Note: Editing a patient’s insurance plan requires the “Edit Ins. Plan for Patient” security right (existing right).
